CARE OF PLANTS

Plants

Florida plants are susceptible to many different types of insects, fungi, and disease. For this reason, a good maintenance program is essential. We recommend the following:

  1. Apply Malathion or a comparable all-purpose spray every 60 days. This will help control the insect population.

  2. Apply 6-6-6, 100% Organic for all plants and trees except for acid loving plants. Use azalea fertilizer for azaleas, gardenias, camellias, juniper and other acid loving plants.

  3. For specific plant requirements, we recommend purchasing Florida Landscape Plants written by John F. Watkins and Thomas J. Sheehan. This book is available at B. Dalton stores.

All vegetation may be pruned as necessary during the growth season: April through September. Do not prune until the danger of a frost or freeze has passed, which is usually mid-March.

Do not prune azaleas between September and April. Buds start developing
